The Mimico Mountaineers Lacrosse Club took home the 1st Annual Toronto Rock City Cup on Wednesday, July 16th after the club won the first two of three games scheduled in the best-of-3 series tournament.

The weather was beautiful and Kew Gardens was the perfect setting for the event, which featured two of Toronto's biggest minor lacrosse associations, the Toronto Beaches and the Mimico Mountaineers who brought along their all-star novice, peewee and bantam teams to face off against each other in this inaugural event.

The Mimico Mountaineers novice team celebrated an 8-4 win after the first game of the evening followed by an 8-5 peewee victory over Toronto Beaches in the second game. The Beaches bantam team defeated Mimico 6-3 in the final game of the tournament.

There was music, a barbecue, face painting and other lacrosse related activities with many fans going home winners after clinching some great prizes in the raffle draws throughout the evening.

Kids showed off their lacrosse stick tricks to the crowd and tested their shot speed and accuracy in the Toronto Rock inflatable.

Toronto Rock players Jim Veltman, Chris Driscoll, Rob Marshall, Kasey Beirnes, Ryan Benesch, Peter Lough and Chris Stewart were in attendance, signing autographs, taking photos with fans and participating in an on-floor scrimmage with some excited minor lacrosse players.
