I am both bewildered and upset by the actions of two women in a white Lilncoln Navigator and I need to express my frustration.
On Nov. 3, I attempted to donate a clock, which I inherited from my mother when she passed away, to Value Village at Lawrence Avenue and Markham Road. I wasn't using the clock and I really wanted someone less fortunate to get use out of it.
It was ll:30 a.m. and my husband I arrived at Value Village and placed the clock, which was in a plastic bag, in the donations area.
We then witnessed a woman with short black hair, walk past and nonchalantly pick-up the plastic bag and get inside a white Lilncoln Navigator - an $80,000 vehicle - and drive away without paying for the clock.
The driver of the Lincoln and the woman with the short black hair found the situation quite funny.
I can't understand how someone could do such a thing - especially someone who obviously has money because they are driving a luxury vehicle. How could you blatantly steal something that was meant for someone less fortunate?
The good people of Value Village are providing clothing and household items at discount prices to those who can't afford to pay full price. It's sad and pathetic to me that someone with the means to pay could so easily take an item (that probably would have been sold for a few dollars) without paying and deprive someone else of the item.
I hope people like these two women are far and few between.
Who knows, perhaps they will find themselves on the other end some day, needing assistance. I just want those two women to know that my husband and I saw what you did and although they do not know us or care what we think - they have to look themselves in the mirror and I suspect they won't like what they see.
You never know who's watching.
