Cancelled meeting irks resident

Open letter to Coun. Paul Ainslie:

Paul,

I wanted you to know that tonight's postponement of the Toronto Hydro meeting was unfortunate and left me very unimpressed with how Toronto Hydro and the city have started the community consultation process for the proposed wind farm/turbine project along the Scarborough Bluffs shoreline.

Tonight, when I arrived at the meeting location (Christ Church at 155 Markham Rd.) I was told that the meeting was postponed because the church hall was too small to handle all the people who came to attend. My observation is that the two major organizations involved, namely the City of Toronto and Toronto Hydro, have clearly shown they are unable to plan, organize and administer a simple public meeting that meets the needs of Scarborough residents.

It leaves me wondering how effective these same organizations will be in the planning, organizing and administering the proposed multi-million dollar wind turbine project. Please keep me informed of when and where the rescheduled public meeting will be held. Also, I suggest that you invite your colleagues from the Scarborough community council who voted against your Sept. 9 motion (namely Councillors Adrian Heaps, Chin Lee, Mike Del Grande, Raymond Cho and Glenn De Baeremaeker) to the rescheduled meeting. I think the meeting would provide an excellent opportunity for them to explain the advantages they see in this proposed project to many Scarborough residents.

John P. Mason
