Harassment charges laid after boys followed

 
 
A man faces criminal harassment charges after children were allegedly accosted in the Leslieville and the Beach neighbourhoods.

Police say that at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, two boys were riding bikes in the Leslie and Gerrard streets area when a man on a bike followed them, engaged them in conversation, offered them money and asked that they follow him to a secluded area.

At 8:30 a.m. the next day, a man followed a boy from home to school.

Later the same day, a 10-year-old boy walking on Bowmore Road was approached by a man who engaged him in conversation, offered him money and followed him.

Police also allege a man came up to two 12-year-old boys in the yard of Bowmore Public School, engaged them in conversation, offered them money and followed them to a community centre.

Douglas Gaspell, 41, of Barrie, was arrested at 12:30 p.m. May 8. He has been charged with two counts of criminal harassment, two counts of breaching a prohibition order and one count of invitation to sexual touching.
